Did elephant Putri die in Tashkent Zoo?

A message circulating on social media platforms and Telegram groups has said that the elephant Putri had a pack of croutons “Kirieshka” and there is still no information on the animal’s health.

Makhmud Kuzibayev, the chief veterinarian of the Tashkent Zoo, reported that Putri was under constant supervision by specialists who continuously monitored the animal’s health and well-being. Even though the elephant accidentally swallowed the bag, it showed no sign of sickness and continued to have its regular meal.

“On March 16, visitors threw a bag of garbage into the enclosure of the elephant Putri, and it swallowed it. Usually, digested food comes out from the body within 24-51 hours. We remind you that the ingestion of foreign objects is dangerous. Please follow the rules zoo and do not throw garbage or anything that could harm the animals into the enclosures.

Caring for animals in a zoo includes not only providing them with decent living conditions, but also veterinary monitoring. The elephant receives the necessary nutrition, care and attention from zoo staff, which contributes to its well-being. Thank you for your attention and cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of our animals!” the zoo’s press service writes in its official Telegram channel.
