What broke the nose of the plane belonging to JSC "Uzbekistan Airways"?

Messages and photos have been circulating on social media about the takeoff of a passenger aircraft belonging to JSC Uzbekistan Airways with a broken nose section.

The company JSC "Uzbekistan Airways" responded to the situation. On August 3, the aircraft A320 UK32015, performing flight HY9684 on the route Krasnoyarsk - Tashkent, after an hour-long flight at an altitude of 11,000 meters along the border of Russia and Kazakhstan encountered a meteorological phenomenon (thunder), which is abnormal for this altitude. As a result, the front windows of the aircraft are damaged. After completing the established procedures, the crew decides to continue the flight. Landing in Tashkent will be carried out in accordance with the schedule. During the post-flight inspection, damage to the nose cone of the weather radar (sponge) was also revealed.

There were 174 passengers and 6 crew members on board the aircraft.

Work is currently underway to repair the damaged part of the aircraft. In the coming days, the aircraft will begin to perform regular flights. "We remind you that this event does not pose a threat or serious problems for the continuation of flights. For the airline, passenger safety is of paramount importance," the press service noted.

Earlier, on November 13, 2023, a bus driver at Tashkent International Airport collided with an aircraft, violating the rules for movement on the territory of the airfield. During the movement of the aircraft units, a part that helped reduce air resistance was damaged.

Uzbekistan Airways Technics specialists carried out repair work to replace the damaged part of the aircraft. After that, the aircraft was cleared for flights.
