Citizen who disturbed the peace of a white lion in the Tashkent Zoo was detained

On September 5, 2024, a video of a visitor to the Tashkent Zoo throwing vegetables at animals appeared on social media. This act was filmed by other visitors. The Tashkent Zoo responded to the incident as follows: "Such actions are unacceptable, they are dangerous for animals. Unfortunately, this is not the first time." This incident caused serious objections from the public.


On September 10, 2024, at an open court hearing in the building of the Yunusabad District Criminal Court, a case was considered on an administrative offense against a native of Tashkent A.Sh. (the citizen's name has been conditionally changed), who had not previously been brought to administrative responsibility, for committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.




Citizen A.Sh. On September 6, 2024, despite the presence of a "prohibitory sign prohibiting throwing anything" at an African lion kept in the "Zoo" at the address: Tashkent, Yunusabad district, Bogishamol street, 232-A, A.Sh. treated it cruelly, threw food at it, creating factors harmful to its health.


In court, A.Sh. pleaded guilty, repented of his actions and asked for a reasoned decision to be made regarding him.




When sentencing A.Sh., the court, taking into account his behavior after committing the illegal act, as well as mitigating and aggravating circumstances of the existing liability in the case, and observing the requirements of the Resolution of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 30, 2018 No. 35 "On some issues of the application of laws regulating the consideration of cases of administrative offenses by the courts", considered it necessary to impose a fine under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The citizen was sentenced to a fine in the amount of 5 basic calculation units under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, that is, 1,700,000 soums.


The press service of the Tashkent Zoo emphasized: "Caring for animals is our common responsibility, and every visitor to the zoo must comply with the rules that ensure safety and comfort for everyone. We are grateful to those who help maintain order and treat our animals with respect."
